Laura Kampman
Laura Kampman (1994), a photographer and composer, has been transitioning from capturing moments through photographs to recording the sounds of her surroundings using her phone. For several years, she has documented various environments, conversations, melodies, objects, animals and moments with loved ones. She also actively seeks out and collects sound snippets from other individuals, asking them to share their phone recordings. She intertwines these diverse recordings, blending them into sonic landscapes. Through her work, Laura invites us to become aware of the (everyday) soundscape we often overlook. Her first EP 'Coming into Daily Life' was released on March 4, listen here, and buy here.
Here’s some press Laura did over the past years, mostly about her work as a photographer: an interview (in Dutch) with Het Parool, and one on Stories.com (which you can read here), on ‘observing’. The Cut did a great feature under the title ‘The Photographer Who Went to Ibiza for a Week but Stayed for Half a Year’, and here’s another one, on Models.com
